Killer Supplements (Issue 53) by Tiamari

Is your Vitamin/Mineral supplement killing you?

Vitamin supplements taken by millions of people every day for their health could be increasing their risk of death.

Around 95% of all vitamins sold in the world are synthetics - NOT food matrix. They are cheap but not bio-available and over-doses can be dangerous! Most of these synthetic vitamins are made from coal tar or petroleum and our digestive tract does not have enzymes that can digest these substances!

Almost 100% of all multivitamin supplements contain inorganic minerals from 'crushed rocks' with very few plant sourced minerals at levels that meet our needs. This means the minerals are barely absorbed into our bodies and mostly flush straight through!

Is your healthy diet a myth?

Today’s fruits and vegetables lack yesterday’s nutrition! Studies indicate there has been a decrease in the overall nutritional quality of the produce we consume. Some of the fruits and vegetables we eat today are often picked before they are ripe, processed and pasteurized and then finally shipped long distances to market.

Vitamins and minerals have dramatically declined in some of our most popular fruit and vegetables. This list includes, but is not limited to potatoes, tomatoes, bananas and apples.

In 1952, two peaches supplied the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of Vitamin A for adult women. Today a woman would have to eat almost 53 peaches to meet that RDA.

One would have to eat almost ten oranges to get the same level of Vitamin A which our grandparents would have received from just one orange. The vegetable exhibiting the greatest nutrient losses was broccoli. All seven of its measured nutrients had declined.

This might explain why the recommended daily servings of fruit and veggies was lifted to 7-13 servings a day. The reality is however is that practically NOBODY consumes these sort of servings every day.

Get nutrition the way your body wants it.
