Remotely Cool (Issue 53)
I am typing this on my laptop. But my laptop is in the other room...
Have you ever heard the terms "desktop sharing" and "online collaboration"? This stuff is WAY COOL!
I am using a little App called TeamViewer. More than 200,000,000 users spread over more than 200 countries already use TeamViewer. It is easy to use, and super quick to get started!
Once downloaded and installed, you simply set up your computer ID's (you give your computer a "name") and a password. I suggest you choose the option to create an online account, like I did.
After installation (on two or more computers), you select REMOTE CONTROL, enter the ID of the computer that you would like to control, and click on CONNECT TO PARTNER. As soon as you are connected, you will see a window opening. This is the other computer, and it's PLAY TIME!
It isn't hard to figure out. Keep in mind that I am a software lecturer - not an IT expert.
Whether you provide spontaneous remote support, administer servers or work from your home office, TeamViewer gives you the possibility of being able to control computers remotely as if you were sitting right in front of them. All you need is an internet connection.
This is not limited to computers. Use TeamViewer to connect with your Android handset, and use it as a remote for your desktop.

TeamViewer is free for all non-commercial users!
